Welcome to the Golf Wisely 2021 WITB blog post! A handful of updates since the beginning of 2020 and last year’s WITB post.
Before I begin, I have a scheduled fitting in March 2021 for a new driver. Embarrassingly, this will be my first fitting. Ever. I am trying Club Champion as my fitter – message me with any feedback on them.
Long Clubs
Driver:
For now, I am gaming a Taylormade M4 at 9 degrees loft with a Hazardous stiff shaft. Again, I have no idea if this setup is ideal for my swing and game. I do like the sound of Taylormade drivers, but I am intrigued by Callaway, Titleist, Ping and Mizuno driver advancements.
3-wood:
My 3-wood is an Adams Tight Lies 16 degree with a regular flex shaft. I won this club about 6 years ago at a local course. This club is a fairway finder and has saved me so many strokes. I hit it about 250 yards consistently. I like the low profile look to the head. With that said, I may consider investing in the Ping 425.
Driving Iron:
I game the Taylormade UDI 3-iron and mostly use off the tee. The shaft is a Diamana with 20 degrees loft. I love this club due to the piercing ball flight and consistency. This club will be key during my upcoming Bandon Dunes trip in August 2021.
Irons & Wedges
No change at irons or wedges this year. My Mizuno MP-52 and Vokey wedges will carry on into 2021. Love all these clubs! Been a Mizuno iron owner since 2002. Details can be found in my 2020 WITB post.
Putter
The relationship with my putter is important. I do not believe I am unique in this stance. There needs to be a feeling of confidence and an emotional attachment to a putter.
With that said, I am switching back to a blade putter in 2021. My gamer is a Scotty Cameron 009. The putter has hand-stamping with Circle T, Jester, 350G, and a crowned CAMERON on the back. The putter is made from carbon steel with a deep milling face.
Golf Bag
The golf bag has been updated for 2021. I built an Original Walker MacKenzie golf bag in 2020. I love to carry this golf bag. The bag is made from waxed canvas in navy blue with Golf Wisely embroidery on the pocket. Please send me a message if you have questions on creating your own MacKenzie golf bag.
Accessories
The following accessories are new additions to my carry bag:
- Sony a6400 with 70-200 lens
- No Laying Up scorecard holder
- JBL Clip3 speaker
- Penfold golf glove
- Peak Design camera clip (on the golf bag)
